Welcome to Wigston Phoenix Running Club. We are the newest club in Leicestershire. We are a friendly, sociable club who cater for all standard of runners in Wigston, Oadby and South West Leicestershire.
Our main training night is Tuesday, when we meet at the Royal British Legion in Wigston.

latest news

There was a great turnout of Wigston Phoenix runners at the Braunstone Parkrun, as 8 of our runners took part in the field of 165.
Heading them all was Tom Drake, who became our first winner there, in a new club Parkrun record of 16m51s, a second faster than the previous record he set last week in winning the Conkers Parkrun.
Jon Hunt was next in 15th place, dipping under the magical 20 minute barrier for the first time in the process, recording 19m54s
Next home was Phoenix Hoyle in 23rd place in a time of 21m11s, then Dean Hassall in 32nd place in a time of 21m42s.
Mark Thompson was 58th in a time of 23m09s, then Pete Sylvester 75th place in 24m09s, just outside his PB.
Dave Muddimer was 78th, in a new PB of 24m24s, and there was also a new PB for Richard Pearson - 99th in a time of 25m38s.

new year party

A date for your diary...Friday 27th January will be the New Year Party and Presentation Evening, to be held at the Wigston Stage hotel.
The cost will be £20 per person, and partners are especially welcome.
A list is out at the Legion, get your names down!

braunstone parkrun

We are looking to get as many of you as possible to the Braunstone Parkrun on Saturday 3rd December. As well as it being a great fun event, it is a good way of us publicising the club.
We have had 30 different people run at Braunstone - it would be great to see all of them and a few new faces!!

Also we are talking to West End Runners about the possibility of providing pacers at the Parkrun to try and help runners to achieve their target times. This will probably be at 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28 and 30 minute paces.
We wouldn't be doing this every week, probably once a month to start with. If you are interesting in being a pacer, please see Mark Thompson.

We have a selection of racing and training kit available:

- Club Vests, priced at £13.50 are available from Mike Stiff.
- T-Shirts, priced at £14 for short-sleeved and £16 for long-sleeved are available from Ian Fraser.
- Beanie hats priced at £5 are available from Mark Thompson.
- Hoodies, priced at £18 are due by the end of November, and will be available from Julie Cornes.

london marathon places

The club has received 2 places for the 2012 London Marathon.
These are allocated by a club ballot that takes place at the Xmas Handicap, for those people who entered the original ballot and were rejected.
If you were rejected, and still want to run, please pass a copy of your rejection letter on to Mick Jordan or Mark Thompson and we will include you in the draw for places.
